Red Rose Rifle Club
From the famous IZHMASH factory comes a little gem of a gun. The civilian version of the Kalashnikov AK-102 assault rifle in .223 Remington/ 5.56x45 NATO calibre. This is the second AK family rifle I have purchased, My first being the AK-103 Saiga exp M3 in 7.62x39 calibre. On a visit to McAvoy`s (Gunsmiths) Standish Lancashire, I noticed the short barrelled AK on Display. I asked to look at the rifle and within two minutes my F.A.C was on the counter along with the payment. How does it shoot? Well to be honest - Fantastic, much better than I was expecting from such a small barrel. On a club shooting day at Altcar, My nephew used this rifle to achieve the days highest score for an iron sighted rifle, 10 points clear of the second place Lee Enfield .303 an a 300 yard range. Changes made to this rifle. F.A.B tactical for end grip, tactical pistol grip and a rubber grenade launcher stock pad. RECOMMENDATION.
Don`t use surplus British R.G 5.56x45 ammunituin. This is prone to jamming/extraction problems and copper fouling in the chamber. British surplus 5.56x45 is approx 1.5mm longer than factory .223 ammunition!
